Awareness Raising on Culture and Development in Europe
|
This bilingual publication presents some reflections and case studies related to the cultural component in the development process. Organized in three chapters in line with the field intervention process (mobilizable resources, logics of intervention and evaluation), this publication also presents the theoretical orientations and issues for applied research and the practical outcomes for the different cultural operators invested in development programmes. These discussions come with the review of the main bibliography resources relevant to this field as well as the presentation of key actors. The final reports on the four seminars organized in the framework of the ARCADE project between 2007 and 2008 are also included in the publication.

The ARCADE Project has been launched by ACTED, the Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development, in partnership with ENTP, the European New Towns Platform and CIR, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Comparative Research in the Social Sciences.
Funded by the European Commission (EuropeAid), the ARCADE project aims to raise awareness about culture and development in Europe. By promoting the cultural and artistic identity of developing countries in Europe, ARCADE also highlights that the respect of cultural diversity is a prerequisite for successful and sustainable development projects.
The ARCADE website aims to be a portal for development and cooperation actors interested in integrating a cultural component into their development strategies and programs
